Although more and more hotels now advertise wellness, recovery or longevity, guests are often unable to sleep peacefully, eat healthily and maintain their usual exercise and relaxation routines. LNGVTY has already launched as a new certification and orientation platform for the hospitality industry in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Now they aim to expand across Europe.

Guided by the principle “Verifying Longevity”, LNGVTY rates hotels using a consistent, data-based methodology and makes their regenerative quality visible and comparable for guests.

Hotels and resorts can apply for the individual assessment at www.lngvty.eu. The first LNGVTY-properties will be published step by step. Depending on the result and the depth of assessment, properties are listed as “Featured”, “Approved” or “Certified”. Certification at the “Certified” level additionally requires a physical on-site inspection.

The familiar star logic is no longer enough in a growth market

Whether for a holiday or a business trip:

“Whether for a holiday or a business trip: LNGVTY is the first platform in Europe to systematically assess the longevity quality of hotels across eight fixed, weighted dimensions, to analyse guest experiences both quantitatively and qualitatively, and to combine the results into a reproducible score. The platform thus goes far beyond classic hotel stars, design awards and isolated wellness offerings,” says Valerie Constanze Dietrich, co-founder of LNGVTY (www.lngvty.eu). Dietrich studied International Management in longevity metropolises such as New York and London. “The market in the English-speaking world is already one step ahead,” she says.

Co-founder Kai Oppel: “Longevity has long been more than a niche topic for biohackers or medical retreats. The market potential is considerable. For more and more people, paying attention to sleep, exercise, nutrition and recovery is a matter of course. When travelling, however, they often fail at the most basic things,” says Oppel, giving examples. “Rooms often cannot be fully darkened. Noise from the corridor or the street is disturbing to many guests. The gym and the pool are far too small to deserve the name, or don’t open until after the first business meeting. In the minibar, between gummy bears, chocolate nuts, soft drinks and beer, there are rarely any healthy alternatives. These are exactly the gaps we want to make visible – and in doing so help hotels increase guest satisfaction.”

According to Valerie Constanze Dietrich, these shortcomings are particularly noticeable in expensive hotels: “The target group quite often already searches for, books and pays for filter criteria such as wellness or fitness. But on site, these are then not sufficiently delivered. And the familiar, classic star classification fails as well.”

The basis of every rating is the LNGVTY

The basis of every rating is the LNGVTY Score. To calculate it, LNGVTY examines eight dimensions, which are weighted differently according to their importance for recovery and long-term well-being: sleep quality carries the greatest weight in the result at 24 percent. This is followed by noise and quiet at 15 percent, and wellness and recovery as well as nutrition and room service at 14 percent each. In addition, guest experience and stress or stress reduction account for nine percent, and light and blackout, air quality and climate, and fitness for eight percent each. LNGVTY rates each dimension on a scale from zero to ten. “What matters are statistically recurring experiences of many guests, not individual particularly positive or negative reviews,” explains Dietrich.

Orientation for guests, differentiation for hotels

“Many hotels already have a surprising number of elements that enable a health-conscious stay. Often, however, these offerings are considered in isolation,” says Valerie Constanze Dietrich. “A good bed alone does not guarantee restful sleep. Processed nuts and sweetened porridge do not make a well-thought-out breakfast. That is why LNGVTY does not look at individual prestige offerings, but at the entire regenerative experience.”

The LNGVTY assessment is intended to help hotels document their existing strengths transparently, identify potential weaknesses and, in future, tailor their offerings more specifically to the needs of health-conscious travellers. Successfully assessed properties will be presented on the platform with an editorial profile and their LNGVTY Score. Depending on their level, they can use digital badges, communication materials and physical awards for their own marketing.
