Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has announced his first studio album in six years, titled ‘Oldest Young Man’, with the project scheduled for release on November 27.
The singer, who disclosed the release date in an Instagram post on Tuesday, described the forthcoming project as “timeless”.
“The legacy continues. OLDEST YOUNG MAN drops 27.11.26. Timeless music, no expiration date,” he wrote.
The album will be 2Baba’s ninth studio project, following ‘Warriors’, his eighth album, which was released in 2020.
The announcement comes after months of teasing
The announcement comes after months of teasing the project on social media. In August, the singer hinted at the album’s arrival in an Instagram post, writing: “I’ve lived it, I’ve seen it, I’m still here. My new album, Oldest Young Man, soon come”.
He also embraced the album’s title on his birthday, describing himself as “forever the oldest young man”.
Despite the six-year gap between studio albums, 2Baba has remained active in the music industry, releasing singles and collaborations. His recent releases include ‘Balling’, ‘Kuku Google Am’ and ‘Mental’, featuring Fave.
The singer rose to prominence in the 1990s
The singer rose to prominence in the 1990s after composing jingles before co-founding the influential music group Plantashun Boiz with Blackface and Faze in 1996.
Following the group’s success, he established himself as one of the pioneers of Afropop, inspiring several generations of Nigerian musicians.
His debut solo album, ‘Face 2 Face’, arrived in 2004. He subsequently released ‘Grass 2 Grace’ (2006), ‘The Unstoppable’ (2009), ‘The Unstoppable International Edition’ (2010), ‘Away and Beyond’ (2012), ‘The Ascension’, ‘Rewind, Select, Update’ (2015) and ‘Warriors’ (2020).
