Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has urged up-and-coming filmmakers not to give up on their dreams as she records a historic feat with her upcoming movie.
Akindele, in a post on X on Monday, announced that her upcoming film, The Four: No One Fights Alone, will premiere in the UK on November 29 at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London, making it the first Nollywood film to debut at the prestigious 791-seater venue.
While expressing gratitude for the milestone, the actress said what means the most to her is inspiring the next generation of creatives.
She wrote, “One of the things that means the most to me is knowing there are young creatives out there who look at my journey and say, ‘I can do this too.’ To every up-and-coming Nollywood filmmaker, please don’t give up on your dreams. I hope the work we’re doing today gives you a platform to tell your own stories and take them even further.”
She described the achievement as a product of hard work and dedication, noting that it is just the beginning for the Nigerian film industry.
“This is just the beginning for our industry, and I’m excited about what we can do together,” she added.
Akindele thanked her cast, crew, fans and supporters for their love and encouragement.
The Four: No One Fights Alone will be released in cinemas nationwide on December 11.
