Ill. (Rockford News First) – A Rockford native is one of eight Americans learning more about their heritage in a Swedish television series
Tracy Sjostrom is an ancestor of Richard Sjostrom who immigrated to Rockford in 1914 and founded construction company Sjostrom & Sons.
Tracy, who now lives in Utah, says her experience on the 14th season of the series, Allt för Sverige (known in the U.S. as The Great Swedish Adventure), helped her better understand her Swedish roots.
In Allt för Sverige, Americans with Swedish ancestry travel to Sweden to explore their cultural heritage. Participants experience Swedish traditions, discover their family history, and take part in challenges — with the ultimate prize of meeting their Swedish relatives.
Season 14 of the show started airing Nov. 2 on Sveriges Television or SVT, the Swedish National Public Television broadcaster.
Those in the U.S. who are interested in watching the show can find it on YouTube, according to the show’s Facebook page.
